Rainbow Curtains for Girls Room Makeover with White Curtain Rod

These girls room makeover ideas really came to life once the rainbow curtains were added. The soft blend of colors—from pink to purple, blue, and yellow—helped tie the entire room together and instantly made the space feel brighter and more inviting. Paired with a sturdy white iron twisted cage curtain rod, this window setup not only looks beautiful but also helps soften the afternoon light, making the room more comfortable without needing full blackout curtains.

Rainbow girls bedding set on twin bed with colorful galaxy comforter, matching sheets, and glitter accent pillow in girls room makeover

Rainbow Girls Bedding Set Twin Bed for Girls Room Makeover Ideas

One of my favorite parts of these girls room makeover ideas is this rainbow bedding set. The soft gradient colors tie in perfectly with the curtains, making the whole room feel coordinated without being overwhelming. It instantly brightened the room and gave the space that cozy, fun look that I was going for.

What I really love about this set is that it comes with everything you need—including sheets and a decorative sparkle pillow cover to just add some pizzaz! I simply reused one of the small pillows we already had and slipped it inside, which made it an easy and budget-friendly upgrade. The microfiber material is soft and comfortable, making it a great option for younger girls as they grow into the space.

Glow in the dark unicorn blanket for girls room makeover with soft pink plush fabric and star patterns
Soft pink heart baby blanket draped over pack and play in girls room makeover with plush texture and cozy design

Cozy Blanket Ideas for a Girls Room Makeover

You can never have too many cozy blankets in a girls room, especially when you’re creating a space that’s meant to feel warm, inviting, and comfortable. These makeover ideas for my granddaughters room at my house, include two different blanket styles—one that adds a little bit of fun and one that brings in soft, everyday comfort.

The glow-in-the-dark unicorn blanket adds a magical touch at night, with hidden designs that light up after being exposed to light. It’s perfect for bedtime or just adding something fun to the room. The soft pink heart blanket, on the other hand, is all about comfort. It’s lightweight, plush, and easy to grab for naps, cuddling, or layering on the bed or pack and play.

Having both gives you flexibility—something fun and something cozy—while still keeping everything coordinated with the overall look of the room.

Pink fluffy round rug in girls room makeover with soft shag texture used for cozy seating and play area

Pink Fluffy Rug for Girls Room Makeover Ideas

This pink fluffy rug is one of those girls room makeover ideas that really helps pull everything together. The soft texture adds warmth to the space, and I put Autumn’s favorite teddy on there while she’s here so you can get a better idea of the size. The round shape creates a perfect little area for sitting, reading, or playing as the girls grow. It brings in just the right amount of color without overpowering the rest of the room.

What I love most about this rug is how practical it is. It’s not just for looks—I’ve actually moved it into the family room to create a soft, comfortable spot for the baby to sit and play. It’s machine washable, holds its shape beautifully, and doesn’t get matted, which makes it a great choice for everyday use in a busy home.

Pink Castles Wall Decals with Rainbow and Unicorns For Girls Bedroom Wall

One of the most fun parts of these girls room makeover ideas was adding the wall decals. This is where the room really started to feel like a magical space for my granddaughters. Between the Fairy Princess Castle wall decals with Unicorn and soft colors, it completely transformed the walls from plain and dark into something playful and inviting.

Because the walls are a darker purple, I had to get a little creative with placement on the Rainbow Castle Unicorn nursery wall decals. The fireworks don’t show up really well – if the wall was lighter color it would have been perfect. Some of the lighter decals showed up beautifully, while others like the Fairy and butterfly wall stickers worked better on the white closet and door surfaces where the colors could really stand out. The peel-and-stick design made it easy to adjust and reposition until everything looked just right. These were the finishing touches that truly brought the whole room together.

Kids bookshelf and toy storage organizer in girls room makeover with books, toys, and bins on a low child-safe shelving unit

Kids Bookshelf and Toy Storage Organizer – Easy to Put Together

One of the most important parts of these girls room makeover ideas was creating a space that felt safe and easy for little ones to use. This kids bookshelf and toy storage organizer replaced a much taller bookcase that just wasn’t practical for a baby or toddler. The lower height and sturdy design make it a much better fit for a space where my granddaughters will be playing and exploring.  It had decent directions and my son put it together for me in less than 30 minutes.

What I love most about this piece is how it encourages independence. The first time Autumn saw it, she went straight to the drawers, sat down on the rug, and started sorting her toys between the bins and her basket. It was very sweet to watch her play. It keeps everything organized while still feeling fun and accessible.

These are a few of the things she always goes back to, so I keep them on the bookshelf where she can see them:

Baby playing inside pink and white playpen with toys in girls room setup for safe play area
Pink and white foldable baby playpen with activity panel and safety gate for indoor play area

Baby Playpen Setup for Safe and Easy Fun

When putting together these girls room makeover ideas, safety and flexibility were just as important as how everything looked. This pink and white 14 panel playpen—what we jokingly call “baby jail”—has been one of the most useful pieces in our home. We originally got it when Autumn started crawling, just to give her a safe space where she could play without getting into everything.

What I love most about it is how portable and adaptable it is. We don’t keep it in the bedroom all the time—we move it into the family room or wherever we need it. But having it available for this space means we can easily create a safe play area when needed. It gives her a place to explore, play with her toys, and build independence, while still keeping everything secure and contained.

Skip Hop baby activity center with toys for early development in girls room makeover

Baby Activity Center Ideas for a Growing Girls Room

This baby activity center is one of those girls room makeover ideas that continues to grow with your child. Right now, she’s a little too big to sit in it, but she still walks over and plays with all the toys on it. It’s been nice to keep it in the room because it still gets used, just in a different way.

What I really love about this piece is that it doesn’t just get used for a few months and then disappear. It starts as a sit-in activity center for younger babies, and then later converts into a table for play, snacks, or crafts. So even though she’s outgrown sitting in it, it’s still part of the room—and it’ll be perfect again when her sister is ready for it.

Man pushing little girl in pink swing at backyard birthday party, girls room makeover ideas lifestyle moment
Pink and purple toddler swing with frame for indoor or outdoor use in girls play area

Toddler Swing Ideas for Indoor and Outdoor Play

This swing has been such a fun addition, and it’s one of those pieces that will last for years. Autumn absolutely loved the Little Tykes swing (left) she got from her Poppy and me for her birthday, so I knew I wanted one at my house too. This pink and purple swing is perfect because it can be used both inside and outside, depending on what we’re doing that day. Set up wasn’t too hard either. The directions are a little picture booklet, but you get the idea and it came together quickly.

Right now, it has the full setup with the cushion and support, so she can sit safely and comfortably. As she gets older, you can remove pieces and turn it into a regular swing, which means both girls will be able to use it. I’ve already used it in the family room for quiet time, and it can easily go outside as well. It’s simple, but it gets used every time she visits.
