DIY Toga Party Entrance on a Budget | Simple Doorway Decor Idea

A drizzly day couldn’t stop this toga party! 🏛️ The entrance made the whole event feel grand, and the best part? It was budget-friendly and surprisingly easy to put together. I wanted something elegant without overspending, so I mixed a few Amazon finds with Dollar Tree staples and ended up with a look that wowed guests before they even walked in.

DIY Checklist Front Entrance:

White Sheer Curtains (Jasmine Linen, 84”)

How to Create It:

  1. Hang the white curtains on the curtain rod. (we just used the second rod we had in the bathroom that holds that liner) and tie back with gold ribbon or cord.
  2. Loosely drape the purple cheese cloth across the top.
  3. Wrap gold garland around the curtains and gauze to add a bit of sparkle and color.
  4. Build your DIY column from pool noodles, cardboard, and spray paint; wrap with ivy.

DIY Checklist For Roman Column:

  • Purchase a round 12” Cement Form from your local home improvement store. We left it the height it came and did not cut it down.
  • 12 Pool Noodles cut in half
  • White bathroom or window caulk
  • A 14-18” square of board (we used leftover amazon boxes for the bottom and the top)
  • Contact Cement
  • Spray paint in whatever color you want your column to be (AND/OR Optional Texture spray to look like rock)

How to Create It:

  • Start by slicing the foam pool noodles in half (Save 3 of them to use for the top and bottom
  • Take one pool noodle and put it around the top of the form so that both ends meet.  Then you can use duct tape to put them together and set aside. (Cut two more that are the same size and tape those, so now you have the 3 round foam pieces ready for the top and bottom of the column.
  • Begin placing glue on the edges of the foam pieces and gluing them next to each other tightly all the way around the form.
  • Once those are set you will take 2 of the round (taped) foam pieces and glue them to the bottom of the pillar. Do the same for the top with only 1 round.
  • Use caulk to go between each foam piece to make it look more like a column, you can use your finger to make it look smooth. Once you have gone in between all foam pieces let it dry.
  • Put your Square wood piece or cardboard on the bottom and glue in place. Do the same with the top.
  • You can spray a texture spray all over the column to look like old rock or you can just spray your color on. You may need two coats of spray paint to put it all together. When it is dry you can add your Ivy and candles to the column. (The paint will have a smell. We finish this just hours before the party. It was going to live inside of the door, but the smell made us decide to keep it outside.)

There are a lot of videos on YouTube if I am not explaining it in a way that makes sense.
